Marjorie M. (Falcon) Alcock, 93, of New Bedford, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital, in New Bedford, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of 73 years of Arthur Alcock.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Mary (Travers) and Daniel Falcon she was a lifelong resident of the South End. She attended New Bedford Vocational High School and later worked at the Enterprise Department Store as the manager of the shoe department.
Marjorie and her husband vacationed in Fort Myer’s Beach, Florida, for many years. The couple also were participants of the Cardiac Rehab Exercise program at St. Luke’s Hospital and would go there three times a week. She assisted her son in law who was the organizer of the Acushnet Road Race for the past 36 years as one of the T-shirt ladies. Marjorie loved to read, garden, cook and bake and was an avid Red Sox fan. She especially loved spending time with her family at holiday gatherings, going out to the 99 on Saturdays and spending Sunday dinner with her family. She and her daughter Susan and granddaughter, Kristin would take yearly trips to Radio City in New York City, for the Holiday Spectacular show.
She is survived by her loving husband; her beloved daughter, Susan J. Braun and her husband John of Acushnet; her beloved granddaughter, Kristin L. Flynn and her husband David also of Acushnet; a nephew, David St. Germain and his wife Madelyn of New Bedford; and great nephews and niece, John, David and Sherrill St. Germain. Marjorie was the youngest and last of six children, Alice Rapoza, Lillian Leal, Vivian Taylor, Nora St. Germain and Benjamin Falcon.
Calling hours are Monday, from 4-7pm, in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
Her funeral service will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 10:30am, in the funeral home followed by interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
