TAUNTON–Esther M. "Tess" (Galligan) Kelley, 78, died at her son’s home in Mansfield Sunday, November 16, 2008, following a two-month illness. Born in Raynham, the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Raposa) Galligan, she was the widow of Myles Kelley.

Educated in the Canton Public Schools, a 1948 graduate of Canton High School, Mrs. Kelley was employed as a secretary for the City of Taunton School Department for over thirty-eight years. Her last position prior to retirement was in the central office as secretary to the former Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Joseph Martin.

Mrs. Kelley was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton. She enjoyed painting, traveling, reading, music, meeting friends for lunch daily and attending Council of Aging yoga classes. She also enjoyed watching and listening to the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School Marching Band, directed by her son. She especially enjoyed the numerous trips to Disneyworld in Florida with her family.

She was the mother of Douglas S. Kelley and his wife Amy of Mansfield, and the loving grandmother of Andrew, Matthew and Alyssa Kelley, all of Mansfield.

Funeral Information

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 9:00AM, from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, Middleboro Ave., East Taunton at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, November 19, from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm in the funeral home.
