View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FAIRHAVEN – John M. Adriano, 95, of Fairhaven, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Royal of Fairhaven, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Maria Amelia (Viera) Adriano. Born in Fairhaven, the son of the late Serafim Medeiros and the late Ermelinda Adriano, he grew up in Agua De Pao, Portugal, where he was a fisherman.
He came back to the United States in the 1940s and worked as a laborer in the construction business, settling in Fairhaven over fifty years ago. Mr. Adriano was a Jehovah’s Witness. He loved playing the guitar on his porch and whistling. John was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Olsen and Marilyn Bizarro, both of Fairhaven and Nancy Silva and her husband Ilidio of New Bedford; two sons, Charles Adriano and his wife Phyllis of Phoenix, AZ, and Anthony Adriano of Rialto, California; two sisters, Ermelinda Carreiro and Silvina Vassal, both of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Adriano was predeceased by two sons, John E. and Robert Adriano; a daughter, Lucy Fuller; and a brother and five sisters.
Funeral Information
His funeral service will be Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 9:00 AM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 19, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
