View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Elaine (Cannon) Nixon, 82, died at her home Wednesday, March 10, 2010, after a period of failing health. Born in Springfield, SC, the daughter of the late Julian and Ida (Fanning) Cannon, she was a Taunton resident since 1945, after her marriage to the late James Nixon.
Elaine was a retired employee of the Reed and Barton Silver Company where she worked for over twenty years. A very active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Taunton, she was a member of the Sewing Circle and the Church Choir. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing needle point work.
The widow of James Nixon, she was also the mother of the late Edwin Nixon, the grandmother of Deanna Gail Nixon of Tennessee, and Amy Elizabeth Honea of Texas. Elaine was also the great-grandmother of Bria and Danica Honea. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and her special friends from church.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the Memorial United Methodist Church, 176 Somerset Ave., Taunton, Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow in the Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 4:00-8:00 PM in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, who is in charge of the arrangements.
