FALL RIVER – Chief Warrant Officer 4 Dorothy A. (Jesienowski) Reed, 69, of Fall River, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, November 8, 2007. Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Adam L. and Irene (Gormely) Jesienowski, she was the wife of retired Brigadier General James F. Reed III, to whom she was married thirty-three years. Following her graduation with the Class of 1956 from St. Xavier High School, she worked at various jobs. She then enlisted in the Rhode Island National Guard. While serving in the Rhode Island National Guard, she continued her education at the Community College of Rhode Island, receiving her associate’s degree in business. Officer Reed then went on to Roger Williams University where she received a bachelor’s degree in public administration. Mrs. Reed then worked for the Rhode Island National Guard as a personal specialist for twenty-four years before retiring several years ago. She was a communicant of Saints Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church in Fall River, as well as a member of the National Guard Association, the Reserve Officer Association, and the Military Order of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Reed enjoyed playing the piano and violin, as well as crossword puzzles, traveling, music, and dining out. Above all, the most important thing she loved was spending time with family and friends. In addition to her husband, General Reed, Mrs. Reed is survived by four daughters, Debra A. Pavao, Carolyn J. Smeaton, both of Fall River, Tammy A. Corson of Glens Falls, New York, and Karen A. St. Martin of Swansea; a son, Sgt. 1st Class Peter N. Varrica of Portsmouth; a sister, M. Kathleen Dexter of Warwick, a brother E. Stephen Jesienowski of Australia; ten loving grandchildren, Jessica, Roger Neil, Jaime, Sara, Jeffrey, Wesley, Ivy, Jonathan, Peter III, and Abigail; and three great-grandchildren, Domonick, Isabella, and Gianna. She was the sister of the late Carolyn J. Jesienowski. Funeral InformationA Memorial Service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 11:00AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, 69 Pulaski St., Fall River. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. At the request of the family, her burial will be private.
