FALL RIVER – Elmer W. Wagner, 92, of New Bedford, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008, surrounded by his family at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Haslam) Wagner. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edward H. and Ellen (Miller) Wagner, he was a lifelong resident of the city and was a longtime member of the South Primitive Methodist Church in New Bedford. Mr. Wagner worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years in New Bedford retiring in 1978. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the V.F.W. in Fairhaven as well as a member of the National Association of Federal Employees. He leaves one daughter, Susan M. Casper and her husband Henry of Seekonk, MA; a son, James B. Wagner and his wife Kathleen of Dartmouth, MA; two grandchildren, Andrea Penacho and Gregory Casper, and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Wagner was the brother of the late Chester, Albert, Edward and Russell Wagner, Edith Lafferty, Lillian Magoon and Ida Gibson. Funeral InformationHis funeral service will be held Monday, November 24, 2008, at 11:30AM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
