View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Edward O’Malley, 85, of New Bedford, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford, after a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Gomes) O’Malley.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Caroline (Souza) O’Malley, he was a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. O’Malley served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later worked at Continental Screw for several years until its closing.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen Whitehead of Dartmouth and her children, Christine LeBlanc and David Luckraft and Michelle Sousa, and Kerrie Bowden and her husband Donald of New Bedford and their children, Jessica and Christopher Bowden; a sister, Phyllis Bousquet and her husband Donald of Montana and their daughter, Cheryl Rae-Williams, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009, from 10:00AM until 12:00PM, when a funeral service will be held at THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Interment with full military honours will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
