View Tribute and Sign Guestbook DIGHTON – Donna J. (Henriques) Whalon, 58, died at her home Sunday, April 19, 2009, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Taunton, the daughter of Marie “Josie” (Levesque) Henriques of Taunton and the late Tony Henriques, Donna was educated in St. Jacques Grammar School and was a 1968 graduate of Taunton High School.
Ms. Whalon was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at the Taunton Nursing Home for over ten years, and was well know for assisting with the family business, Whalon Bar and Grill on Bay St., Taunton, especially on Fridays, serving Fish and Chips to their many customers, who enjoyed bantering with her while being served their food. She loved and adored her grandchildren, traveling to North Carolina, camping at the Cape and her two Pug Dogs.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband Erwin “Bud” Whalon of Dighton and her children, Timothy Whalon of Dighton, Elizabeth Rogers of Germany and her husband Dennis, Kathleen Whalon Teixeira and her husband Emanuel of Raynham, Brittany Whalon of Dighton, Mary-Kate Whalon of Dighton, and Lisa Alpert of Tennessee. She was the grandmother of Devon, Morgan and Alyson Rogers of Germany and Addison Hernandez of Dighton. Donna was the sister of Marilyn Dubois of Taunton. Donna raised her four step-children, Scott Whalon, Michael Whalon, Bradaley Whalon, all of Taunton, and Jeffrey Whalon of Sandwich. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Her funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Friday, April 24, 2009, at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Jude’s Church at 10:00AM. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 23, from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment services for her cremains will be held at the convenience of the family in Dighton Church Cemetery.
