Yvonne I. (Gosselin) Normandin

WOONSOCKET – Yvonne I. (Gosselin) Normandin, 88, died Monday, January 14, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Smithfield, a daughter of the late Arthur and Loza (Messier) Gosselin, she was the wife of the late Aram J. A. Normandin.

A resident of Woonsocket since 1941, having previously lived in North Smithfield, Mrs. Normandin was a dedicated homemaker and had once worked as a press operator for the former Narragansett Mills of Woonsocket. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, where she was a Girl Scout leader at the church and managed her parish’s bingo operation with her late husband. She was a member of the Senior Citizens group at the church as well as the Ladies Sodality and was also a member of St. Agatha’s Senior Group. An in-home CCD teacher and a day care provider, Mrs. Normandin was known as an avid knitter and sculpturer, as was well known for the hand-made prizes she produced for parish carnivals. She also volunteered in the Gift Shops at Fogarty and Landmark Hospitals, and enjoyed traveling with the Senior groups.

Mrs. Normandin leaves three sons, Aram J. Normandin, Jr., and Richard J. and Marcel J. Normandin; three daughters, Suzanne M. Boatman, Claire M. Lambert and Therese M. Normandin; one brother, Armand “Mel” Gosselin; one sister, Rita Michaud; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Friday, January 18, 2008, at 9:00AM from THE MENARD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Wrentham Road, Bellingham, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held in THE MENARD HOME on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
