View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FAIRHAVEN – James E. Maguire, 71, of Fairhaven, died Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the Royal of Fairhaven, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Yvonne M. (LeBlanc) Maguire. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Charles and the late Eleanor (Froton) Maguire, he settled in Fairhaven in 1968.
Mr. Maguire served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and later worked at Revere Copper and Brass. He was a member of the American Legion Post 166 of Fairhaven, enjoyed painting, doing scrimshaw and was an avid reader. He loved sports and enjoyed watching Boston College Eagles football and the New England Patriots, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Maguire is survived by two sons, Michael J. Maguire and his wife Jeanne (Coleman) of Dacula, GA. and Kevin R. Maguire and his wife Deborah (Conboy) of Acushnet; three grandchildren, Jennifer Maguire of North Carolina, and Katherine and Christopher Maguire, both of Acushnet; one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Maguire of North Caroline; a brother, Robert Maguire and his wife Joan of California; two sisters, Florence Normandin of New Bedford and Eleanor Dent and her husband Donald of Townsend, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Maguire was the brother of the late Charles Maguire, Jr., and Dorothy Lima.
Funeral Information
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Maguire was cremated, and services have been held under the direction of THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven.
