View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Vieira) Paulo, 78, died on Sunday evening, July 22, 2007, in Morton Hospital in Taunton, following a period of failing health. Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Alves) Vieira, she was the wife of the late John Paulo. She was educated in the Taunton Public Schools, and attended R I Junior College, Bristol Community College and Fisher Junior College.
Mrs. Paulo retired in 1997 after thirty-one years as a family social worker at Project Head Start. She also was employed for a period of time as a home health aide by the Taunton Visiting Nurse Association. She was a two-term president of the Taunton Cape Verdean Association. A former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Taunton, she was active in the Mother’s Guild; the Holy Rosary Society, and was a CCD Teacher well as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mrs. Paulo was the mother of Doreen Tosti and her husband James of Taunton, Teresa Davis and her husband Karl of Virginia, Laurie Kimball and her late husband Thomas of Taunton, Dianne Huggon and her husband John of Taunton, Mary DeSousa and her husband Manuel of Taunton, Joni Paulo and Daniel Wach of California, Regina Galarazo and her husband Jaime of Taunton, John “Jay” Paulo, Jr., of Taunton, David Paulo of Florida, and Joseph Paulo and his wife Cheryl of Berkley. She was the grandmother of twenty-one and the great-grandmother of one. She was the sister of Vivian Paulo, Irene Offley, Lois Martinez, Sharon Texeira, Patricia Bean, all of Taunton, Marie Andrade and Eleanor Monterio of Rhode Island, John Vieira of Texas, Ronald Vieira of Taunton, Richard Lima of Florida, and the late Jimmy Vieira. She was the aunt of several.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at 10:00AM. Interment St Joseph’s Cemetery will follow the Mass. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00PM in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton.
