TAUNTON / MEDFIELD – Matthew W. Piechota, 92, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, in Norwood Hospital. Born in Taunton, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Miga) Piechota, he was the husband of Stella (Trond) Piechota of Medfield.

Mr. Piechota was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and was a long time resident of Berkley Street before he and his wife Stella moved to Medfield five years ago to be with their daughter and her family. He was an avid Red Sox fan and upon moving to Medfield he became a member of the Council on Aging, where he enjoyed playing cards, and tending to his garden, dining out and travelling. His greatest pleasure was being with his grandsons and trying never missing one of their games, often travelling from Taunton to see them play.
