View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – George B. Thomas, 53, of New Bedford, died Thursday, October 22, 2009. He was the former husband of Eileen Mattos and the son of Beshara S. Thomas of New Bedford and the late Frossena (David) Thomas. Born in New Bedford, George was a lifelong resident of the city and a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church.
He was a self employed carpenter and owner of the Thomas Roofing Company. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known for his big heart and helping others.
Survivors include his father and former wife; his mother-in-law, Alzira Mattos of New Bedford; a son, Dennis Thomas of New Bedford; two daughters, Kimberly Souto and her companion, Abiezer Algarin of New Bedford and Tanya Feke, MD, and her husband Gilbert of Connecticut; four grandchildren, Tyler-Jon Almeida, Jewel Souto, Makayla Rocheleau and Gilbert Aiden Feke; his aunts, Helen Pittsley, Amelia Bramwell and Zahia Riley, all of whom helped him; and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. George was the brother of the late David Wayne and Dennis S. Thomas.
Funeral Information
His calling hours are Wednesday, October 28, 2009, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00PM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven. His funeral will be Thursday, October 29, at 9:00AM from the funeral home, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Purgatory Church, 11 Franklin St., New Bedford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
