View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Lorraine A. (Picard) Parent, 85, formerly of Somerset and South Easton, MA, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2007, at the Marion Manor in Taunton. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Alcidis and Arthemise (Lavoie) Picard, she was the wife of the late Romeo A. Parent.
Mrs. Parent worked as a sewing machine operator in the garment industry in Fall River for many years, retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of Saint Louis de France Church in Swansea, a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Maureen Freitas of Fall River, Denise Sherman of Lakeville, MA, and Janice Nolen of South Easton, MA; a son, Donald R. Parent of Rehoboth, MA; three sisters, Yvette Sivigny of Cheshire, CT, Clarice Gagnon of Fall River, and Florence Southland of San Jose, CA. She was the loving grandmother of Zakary, Sydney, Joseph, and Dominic. She is also survived by one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Roger and Norman Picard.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS , 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Louis de France Church, 56 Buffinton St., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Somerset. Calling hours will be held on Monday in the funeral home between 4:00 and 7:00PM.
