View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Alogene (Gardner) Denning, 80, formerly of San Diego, California died unexpectedly Friday, February 17, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. She was the wife of 53 years of the late James R. Dunning.
Born in Watumka, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Robert D. and the late Dovie M. (Philpot) Gardner, she grew up there before moving to San Diego at age 16. She came to live with her daughter in New Bedford two years ago.
Mrs. Dunning worked as a cook for many years at a Country Club in Chino, California before her retirement.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley R. Dunning of Florida and James S. Dunning of California; a daughter, Alice Borges of New Bedford; two sisters, Wilma Ruth Thompson of Montana and Arizona and Jnice Jeece Kuykendall of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and all services are private under the directions of the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
