View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Gloria M. (Alves) Abrantes, 70, of Hartwell Street, Fall River, died Friday, January 18, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. A Fall River native and lifelong resident, Ms. Abrantes was the daughter of the late John & Virginia (Monis) Alves.
Ms. Abrantes was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo at Foxwoods, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her partner, Helen Linhares of Fall River; five sons, Edward of Tiverton, Manuel of Fall River, Joseph of Pinellas Park, Florida, and David of New Bedford; four daughters, Debra Audet of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Nancy Abrantes of New Bedford, Dorothy Cambra of Fall River, Pauline Abrantes-Schuyler of St. Petersburg, Florida; two brothers, Charles Alves of Fall River and Frank Alves of Wildwood, Florida; three sisters, Marie Ringette of Wildwood, Florida, Irene Arruda of Westport, and Dorothy Maclaughlin of Middletown, RI; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Michael Abrantes, and the sister of the late John Alves, Manuel Alves, Hilda Goff, and Theresa Skelton.
