DARTMOUTH – The Rev. Dr. Harold M. UdelI, 92, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility In Dartmouth. Born in Croswell, MI, the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Shell) Udell, he was the former husband of the late Mádlyn B. Udell of Washington, D.C., and is survived by his good friend Norma Hannon of New Bedford. Dr. Udell was a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, and the Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ. Dr. Udell served as pastor of The First Presbyterian Church in. New Bedford and as chaplain at the Taunton State Hospital. Later, he was employed as a psychological counselor at Brusch Medical Clinic in Cambridge, MA, and in engaged in private practice in Boston and New Bedford. In addition, Dr. Udell was a member of the Board of Trustees of The New England School of Law, Boston, MA. Dr. UdeIl was a past president of The American Association of Clinical Counselors, a life member of The American Group Psychotherapy Association, past secretary and treasurer of The Southeastern Massachusetts Psychological Association and a 32 9 of The Abraham H. Howland Lodge of New Bedford. He had a great interest in people and provided encouragement to many. In addition to Ms. Hannon, Dr. Udell is survived by his son, John E. Udell of New Bedford; his daughter, Anne W. Vigeant and her husband Roland, of So. Dartmouth, a nephew, Donald Bragg and wife Ruth of Yale, Ml, and niece, Marty Bastien and husband Robert of Columbiaville, MI. He was the brother of the late Ruth Bragg of Port Huron, Ml.
