Edmund G. Rose, 93, of Acushnet, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at home peacefully after a brief illness. He was the husband of 64 years, of the late Loretta L. (Bariteau) Rose.
Born and raised in Fairhaven, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Brazil) Rose, he settled in Acushnet 50 years ago.
Edmund served in the Navy during WWII and then worked as a machinist for J.C. Rhodes for many years. He enjoyed gardening, mind puzzles and WWII History.
He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie S. Gwozdz and her husband Michael of Northport, FL; a granddaughter, Erin Hedges and her husband Joshua of Fairhaven; a great grandson, Xavier Hedges; a sister, Dolores Hansen of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rose was the grandfather of the late Ryan Gwozdz and brother of the late Joseph and Lawrence Rose.
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held with military honors, Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 12:00pm, in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
