John V. Cardoso

TAUNTON – John V. Cardoso, 76, died at his home surrounded by his loving family Thursday, August 14, 2008. Born in Mederia, Portugal, the son of the late Januario Vieira and Virginia Cardoso, he was the husband of Elisa (Albuquerque) Cardoso.

A resident of Taunton since 1969, Mr. Cardoso was retired from Texas Instruments in Attleboro where he was employed as a a machinist for over fifteen years. Previously he was employed by the Lucy Shoe Company in Bridgewater for many years. A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, making his own wine, but especially loved his home and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cardoso is survived by his children, Marlene Cardoso, John Carlos Cardoso, Henry Cardoso and Wendy Brewer and Edward Cardoso and his wife Rachel, all of Taunton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Barre Overlock and Karen, Richard Overlock, Sr., and Lucy Tavares; Kyle and Katelyn Cardoso; his great-grandchildren, Richard Overlock, Jr., and Corey and Coby Overlock. He was the brother of Mary Rodrigues of Connecticut, Helena Goouveia, Deolinda Gouveia, Josefina Coelho, Alzira Alves, Algerina Freitas, and Lucinda Albuquerque, all of Brazil; and the brother of the late Manuel Cardoso, Adelino Cardoso and Jose Cardoso. He was also the brother-in-law of Angelina Cardoso of Wareham.

Funeral Information

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Monday, August 18, 2008 at 8:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Annunciation of the Lord Church at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 17, from 3:00-7:00PM.
