View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Alfred G. Nobrega, 88, of Fall River died Monday, November 24, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late John and Cecelia (Valentine) Nobrega, he was the husband of the late Alice (Medeiros) Nobrega.
Mr. Nobrega served his country during WWII with the United States Army. He worked for the City of Fall River School Department for many years as a painter and custodian before retiring in 1982. A communicant of Holy Name Church, he enjoyed woodworking and furniture restoration and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Nobrega is survived by a son, Alfred J. Nobrega of Somerset; two sisters, Hilda Fiola and Paula Botelho, both of Fall River; two brothers, John Nobrega of New Palz, NY, and Henry Nobrega of Passaic, NJ; four grandchildren David Nobrega and his wife Amy of Somerset, Judith Oakley of Cape Cod, Cheryl Almeida of Dexter, and Maine Ryan Nobrega of Fall River; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Joseph Jeffrey Nobrega and the brother of the late Lionel Nobrega.
Funeral Information
His funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 9:00AM from the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held, prior to the Funeral, from 8:00-9:00AM. Burial will follow the burial rite with Military Honors in Saint Patrick Cemetery Fall River.
