Eleanor M. (Lunny) Young, 82, of Fairhaven died unexpectedly Thursday, November 30, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Young.

Born in Newton, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Celina (Bedard) Lunny, she lived most of her life in Fairhaven where she graduated from Fairhaven High School class of 1942 of which she served on the Reunion committee. Mrs. Young was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven where she was a Eucharistic Minister, served on the Family Life Commission and was a member of the Couples Club.

She was a clerk in the Fairhaven Town Clerks Office for many years. Mrs. Young was a member of the Garden Club of Greater New Bedford, the Colonial Club of Fairhaven, the Retirees of Fairhaven Town Hall, the Council on Aging and the Red Hat Ladies Society.

Survivors include four sons, Blaine L. Young and his wife Linda of Rochester, Brian A. Young of New Bedford, Scott A. Young of Belmont, NH and Christopher A. Young and his wife Nicole of Mattapoisett; two daughters, Lynne M. Oliveira and her husband Jorge of Apopka, FL and Jennifer A. Young of Fernandina, FL; a sister, Mary “Honey” Lunny of Fairhaven; a sister in law, Joyce Lunny of New Bedford; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces, Sharon Doyon of Mattapoisett and Colleen Roderiques of RI, a nephew, Stephen Lunny of New Bedford and several other nieces and nephews; Mrs. Young was the mother of the late Harry D. Young and sister of the late John L. and Joseph R. Lunny.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Monday, December 4, 2006 at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Interment in Cushing Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Calling hours with Memorial Video Tribute are Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
