DeCoff, 101, formerly of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, in the Fairhaven Unit of the New Bedford Healthcare Center, where he received outstanding care. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Henderson) DeCoff, with whom he shared a sixty-seven year marriage. Born in Malden, the son of the late Edward and the late Alice L. (Alexander) DeCoff, he was raised in Marion and lived most of his life in Fairhaven.
Mr. DeCoff was a graduate with the Class of 1927 of Fairhaven High School and also attended the former New Bedford Institute of Technology. He had worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing for thirty-three years until his retirement. Prior to that he worked at the former Firestone Plant and Atlas Tack Corp.
He will be remembered by all who knew him for his kindness and generosity and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include a son, Stephen of Freetown; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his long time caregiver and friend, Libby Miller.
Funeral Information
In accordance with his wishes, a private graveside service was held at the River-Side Cemetery in Fairhaven. Arrangements were entrusted to THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
