View Tribute and Sign Guestbook ATTLEBORO – Elizabeth (Almodovar) Vargas, 37, of Attleboro, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was the wife of Johnny O. Vargas. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jose and the late Zuleika (Vega) Almodovar, she lived most of her life in the city before moving to Attleboro a year and a half ago. She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Martyr Church in New Bedford.
Elizabeth worked as a supervisor for Decas Cranberry in Carver. She graduated from New Bedford High School and was currently attending Bristol Community College in Fall River. She enjoyed traveling and working out at the YMCA in Attleboro. Elizabeth recently became a sponsor of a child through Children’s International.
In addition to her husband, Elizabeth is survived by three sisters, Marta Almodovar, Zuleika Mooney and Galena Gutierrez, all of New Bedford; three step-sisters, Sasha Serrano, Franchesca Feliciano and Anuchka Feliciano, all of New Bedford; her mother-in-law, Alba Morales, and her father-in-law, Juan Vargas, both of Attleboro; a brother-in-law, Uriel Vargas of Attleboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00PM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford. Her funeral will be held Friday, February 5, at 8:00AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 110 Summer St., New Bedford, to which family and friends are most cordially invited, followed by interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
