NEW BEDFORD – Manuel Rezendes, 74, of Fairhaven, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Marjorie (DeMello) Rezendes, with whom he shared a fifty-three year marriage. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and the late Maria (Carvalho) Rezendes, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Mr. Rezendes worked at Morse Cutting Tools in New Bedford for over twenty years prior to working at Johnson and Johnson where he retired in 1997 after seven years. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed bowling. He is survived by his wife; a son, Kenneth Rezendes and his wife Laurie of Acushnet; a daughter, Linda Soucy and her fiancé Robert Dakin of Fairhaven; a brother, Roland Rezendes of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Derek and Jacob Parker, and Tyler and Nicole Rezendes; two great-grandsons, Logan and Joshua Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rezendes was the father of the late Jon Rezendes, the great-grandfather of the late Nathan Parker, and the brother of the late Frank Rezendes, Adeline Cabral, Mary Brites, Hilda Dias, Irene Tyler and Theresa Rossi. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 9:00AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven.
