View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Hilda M. (Medeiros) Alves, 83, of Acushnet died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in the New Bedford Health Care Center. She was the wife of 24 years of George Alves.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Jose and the late Maria (Almeida) Medeiros, she lived most of her life in the city before moving to Acushnet 24 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet. Mrs. Alves worked as a stitcher for many years at various Fall River Clothing Mills.
She is survived by her husband; two step daughters, Sandra Trundy and her husband Kevin of New Bern, NC and Brenda Woodis and her husband Richard of Acushnet; a step granddaughter, Noel Wheeler; a step grandson, Dana Furtado; and three great grandchildren, Bradley, Christopher and Nicholas Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alves was the sister of the late Manuel Medeiros, Mary Silva, Rose Medeiros and Albina Alves.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be Monday at 8:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours are Saturday from 4-7 PM.
