FALL RIVER – Sophie J. "Sue" (Przystac) Capone, 96, of Fall River, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Kazimir and Mary (Bogues) Przystac, she was the wife of the late John C. Capone.

Mrs. Capone worked for the former R. A. McWhirr department store in Fall River as a sales associate in children’s clothing for twenty-five years. A communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church for seventy-five years, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, was a true “fashionista,” and an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Until recently, Mrs. Capone walked downtown every day to meet with a group of lady friends (the “Golden Girls”) to discuss current events over a cup of coffee.

Mrs. Capone is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline A. Salvo of Providence, RI, Nancy T. Sutman and her husband Harry of Pawcatuck, CT, and Susan C. Maloney and her husband Keith of Bristol, RI; a son, Paul J. Capone and his companion Pamela Wilkinson of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Corcoran and her husband Paul of Westport Harbor; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Friday, July 18, 2008, at 10:00AM from the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, 56 Pulaski St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. CALLING HOURS will be held prior to the Funeral on Friday morning between 9:00 and 10:00AM.
