Gilberte A. ( Michel) Violette 87, of Ann Avenue Portsmouth RI, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren. She was the wife of the late Theodore R. Violette. She was born November 20, 1918 in Fall River, a daughter of the late Napoleon & Alice (Couture) Michel.

She was a homemaker. She has lived in Portsmouth since 1986, coming from Somerset where she lived on Lafayette street for 36 years. She was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church Portsmouth, and also St Louis DeFrance in Swansea. She was a member of the Violette Association, was a great cook for her large family, enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was very devoted to her family.

She is survived by 6 sons Robert Violette of Cooksville Tennessee, Paul Violette Aiken South Carolina, Philippe Violette of Cooksville Tennessee, Leo Violette of Portsmouth RI, Roger Violette of Alta Loma California, Leonard Violette of Middletown RI, a daughter Louise O'Neill of Portsmouth RI, a sister Leonette Piette o4 Attleboro MA, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bernard Michel, Romeo Michel, Annette Campbell, Juliette Michaud.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 8:30am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St Louis deFrance Church , Buffington St Swansea, burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Somerset. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 4 - 8 pm
