Spencer B. Belyea

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA – Spencer B. Belyea, 89, of Jette St., Swansea, MA, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, after a long illness. He was the husband of Marjorie L. (Bean) Belyea. Born in Braintree, MA, a son of the late Mansfield A. Belyea and the late Elva S. (Bates) Belyea, he had lived in Swansea since 1955.
Mr. Belyea also served in the US Army during WWII as a Technician in the 411th Infantry in Europe. Following his military service, Mr. Beleya had a long career in banking, having worked as Assistant Trust Examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency; then Associate Trust Officer of the former Fall River National Bank; and he also worked at the former Fall River Trust Company.
Active in Masonry for many years, he was a former member of the Delta Lodge AF&AM in Braintree and a member of the Pioneer Lodge AF&AM in Somerset. He was a Past Patron of the Star of Bethlehem and Fall River Chapters OES and a member of the Weetamoe Chapter OES. He was a member of the First Christian Congregational Church of Swansea, having served at various times as Treasurer, Deacon and Trustee.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Spencer B. Belyea, Jr., George A. Belyea and Gerald A. Belyea, all of Swansea; a brother, Robert Belyea of San Antonio, FL; and five grandchildren.
Funeral Information
A funeral will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 10:00AM in THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 26, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
