View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Doris M. (Wilding) Camara, 85, of New Bedford, died Friday, January 8, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, after a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late James and the late Harriet (Townsend) Wilding, she grew up in the city and lived in Connecticut, California, and Henderson, Nevada, before returning to the city in 2001 to be with family.
For the past three years, she has been living with and receiving amazing care from her daughter, Sharon.
Ms. Camara worked as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, taking trips to Foxwoods, golfing in her younger years and in her later years, watching golf.
She is survived by six daughters, Gail Paul of CT, Sharon Lee Rapoza of New Bedford, Donna Theodore of Fairhaven, Beverly Robertson of NH, Pamela Sischo of MN, and Valerie Zapor of CT; a son, Edward Camara, Jr., of CT; two sisters, Ann Pickup and her husband Frank and Ruth Jesse, all of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Wilding, Jr.
Funeral Information
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
