SOMERSET – Doris G. (Mullen) Taylor, 90, of Somerset, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones, at Country Gardens Nursing Center in Swansea. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Robert Frederick Mullen and Gertrude (Hewitt) Mullen, she was the wife of the late Everett Taylor.

A graduate of BMC Durfee High School with the Class of 1934, Mrs. Taylor moved to Somerset in 1956. Before retiring in 1971, Doris had been a saleslady for the former R. A. McWhirr Co. for many years. A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Fall River, she had been a member and had served as President of the Baptist Women’s Federation.

Mrs. Taylor leaves a daughter, Lorna Gregory and her husband John of Swansea; a son, Robert Taylor and his wife Mary of California; three grandchildren, Brian Gregory and wife Cynthia of Boxford, Lynn Nahas and husband Ronald of Swansea, and Bethany Myers and husband James of Florida; three great-grand daughters, Meaghan and Alison Sheedy of Swansea, and Caitlin Sullivan-Gregory of Boxford. She was the sister of the late Helen Slaiding.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 10:00AM in the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset. Burial will follow in the Nathan Slade Cemetery in Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 23, from 5:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
