NORTH DIGHTON – Maria G. (Van Der Zwalmen) Jones, a long time resident of North Dighton, died at her home in North Dighton Saturday evening, August 2, 2008. Born in Belgium, the daughter of the late Julian and Georgette (Van Oppens) Van Der Zwalmen), she was the wife of Walter A. Jones of North Dighton.

A resident of Dighton for more than forty-two years, having previously resided in Taunton and Medford, Mrs. Jones was a retired employee of the Crown Wire and Cable Company. A member of Eastern Star, having served as a past Worthy Matron and past Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls, she was very involved in many Eastern Star affiliations. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dighton.

In addition to her loving husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jones Aguiar and her husband Ronald of Dighton; and a son, Arthur Jones and his wife Deborah of Wrentham. She was the grandmother of Ronnie and Rachel Aguiar of Dighton and Ryan Jones of Wrentham. She was the sister of Chris Van Der Zwalmen and his wife Lisa of Medford, and the sister of the late Daniella Greene.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, at 11:00AM. (A private interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will take place following the funeral service.) Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
