NEW BEDFORD – Barbara P. White, 83, of Dartmouth, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Clifford L. and the late Margaret (McMahon) White, she lived in New Bedford for many years until moving to Dartmouth in 1968. She was a communicant of St. Julie Biliart Church in Dartmouth.

Ms. White attended Bryant College and graduated cum laude from Boston College in 1959. She was personnel director at St. Luke’s Hospital and a sales and claims adjuster at Liberty Mutual Insurance, prior to being employed as a school teacher in the New Bedford Public Schools for more than twenty years, until her retirement from the Mt. Pleasant School in 1986. She enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the British Isles.

Ms. White is survived by a brother, Donald White of Naples, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard White and longtime friend of Avis Anderson.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Thursday, March 8, 2007, at 9:00AM from the DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Julie Biliart Church, Dartmouth. Interment will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
