Helen E. (O'Donnell) Oldrid., 82, of Summerfield Street in Fall River, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of sixty-two years to Arthur Oldrid. Born in Newport, RI on January 23, 1924 the daughter of the late William E. and Harriet (Smith) O'Donnell.

She was a graduate of Durfee High Scholl class of 1941 and also the former Allen's Business School in Fall River. Mrs. Oldrid worked for Prudential Insurance Company and then the former Pacific Oil Co. in Fall River for a few years and then devoted her life to raising her family. She was an active member of the Union United Methodist Church in Fall River for over fifty years, and served as its delegate to the Council of Churches, the former chairperson of the Missions committee and served on the committee of finance and as a trustee, she also was an adult study group leader, and member of the Sunday evening club at the First Baptist Church, served on the board at the former Fall River Deaconess home , and was a ten years volunteer at Charlton Memorial Hospital, also served on the Board of Directors for the Council on Aging in Fall River.

Survivors beside her husband of sixty-two years are a daughter Kathy J. Oldrid of Fall River four grandchildren two great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Donna Lee Dzialo and sister of the late Gladys L. O'Donnell

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10am form the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA followed by a funeral service at 11am in the Union United Methodist Church 600 Highland Ave., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 3-7pm.
