TAUNTON – George F. Figueredo, 83, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in the South East Rehab and Skilled Care Center in Easton. Born in Taunton, a son of the late Antonio and Grace (Lynch) Figueredo, he was the beloved husband of more than sixty-three years of Mary (Reberio) Figueredo. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a gradate of Taunton Public Schools, Mr. Figueredo was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy. Prior to enlisting in the Navy, he served in the Merchant Marine Service and was torpedoed by a German Sub off the coast of Virginia and spent more than fifty hours in the water awaiting rescue. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing cards and fishing and was a member of the PACC and a life-time member of Post 611 VFW in Taunton. He was the father of Gail Ford and her husband Willie of Swansea, Charlene Turner and her husband Richard of Berkley, Sgt. Darrell Figueredo, of the Taunton Police Dept., (retired) and his wife Kay of Alabama, Lt. George Figueredo, of the Mansfield Police Dept., (retired) and his late wife Margo, and Neil Figueredo and his wife Denise of Florida. He was the grandfather of fifteen, the great-grandfather of twenty, and the great-great-grandfather of one. He was the brother of the late Lorraine Pacheco of Raynham and the late Tony Figueredo, Lincoln Saunders, Emily Delsolio , Gerry Haskell and Grace Figueredo. Funeral InformationVisiting hours on will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2007, from 4:00-8:00 PM in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph’ Church, Taunton on Monday, April 30, 2007, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow the funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton.
