View Tribute and Sign Guestbook DARTMOUTH – Ann M. (Chace) Allerdt, 71, of the Heritage at Dartmouth, died at home on Friday, September 7, 2007, surrounded by her family, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Adolph H. Allerdt.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Walter R. and the late Florence (Ouimette) Chace, she grew up in Fairhaven and lived in Lakeville for thirty-six years, prior to moving to Dartmouth a year and a half ago. She attended St. Martha and Mary Church while living in Lakeville.
Mrs. Allerdt was a 1953 graduate of Fairhaven High School and a 1957 graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers College. She taught at Normandin Junior High School and later at Bristol Community College, until her retirement in 1994. She was the coordinator of the SABES adult literacy program at the College and a trainer of volunteers in that program. She was also a member of the group’s drama club. Mrs. Allerdt and her husband were members of the Stetsonares Singing Club. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader and member of various book clubs as well as an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey M. Allerdt and his wife Deb of East Freetown, and Christopher D. Allerdt and his wife Karen of Lakeville; two daughters, Lauryl Doiron and her husband Dennis of Phippsburg, Maine, and Kay Helberg and her husband Karl of Framingham, MA; and four grandchildren, Marc Allerdt and his wife Rebecca of Daleville, AL, Jessica Allerdt of East Freetown, Nicholas Allerdt of Tampa, FL, and Andrew Allerdt of Lakeville.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at 10:00AM from the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment will follow the funeral Mass in Precinct Cemetery, Lakeville. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
