NEW BEDFORD – William Hardy, 89, of Purchase Street, (Olympia Towers) New Bedford, died Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Saint Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Albert and Sarah (Eaves) Hardy, he was the husband of Joanne S. (Shepard) Hardy.

Mr. Hardy worked as a cleaner for All Brite Cleaning Company for many years and had also worked for C. E. Beckman. Mr. Hardy served with the United States Navy during World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Kay Hardy of Dartmouth, MA; two granddaughters, Carrie Andrick and her husband James of Virginia, Minnesota, and Patricia Days of New Bedford; two great-grand daughters, Anna and Sarah Andrick of Virginia, Minnesota; one niece, Marjorie Soucy of New Bedford; and other nieces and nephews. Mr. Hardy was the brother of the late Beatrice (Hardy) Lackie and Charles H. Hardy.

Funeral Information

Funeral services and burial will be private. Burial will take place at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
