John Zillis Jr.

ASSONET – John Zillis, Jr., of Assonet, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Gardner, MA, the son of the late John G. and Julia Zillis, he was the husband of the late Virginia (Darling) Zillis.

Mr. Zillis was a graduate of Gardner High School. After graduation, he served his country during WWII with the United States Army. Following his military service, he enrolled in the Boston School of Physiotherapy, from which he graduated as a physical therapist. Mr. Zillis worked as a therapist for the former Union and Truesdale Hospitals in Fall River, and for Dr. William E. Kenney’s clinic for many years. He was an active member at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Fall River, and also was involved with the double ringers club. He enjoyed wood working, and fishing.

Mr. Zillis leaves his godson, Danny Jaikes of New Bedford; his brother-in-law, Densmore Darling of Gardner; good friends, Eric and Sandy Jaikes and their daughter Elizabeth of New Bedford, Gisele and Ronald Parent and their children Danielle and Renee of Swansea, and Sharen Houle of Swansea.

Funeral Information

His funeral service with a Mass of Requiem Eucharist will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007, at 9:30AM in the Church of the Ascension, 160 Rock St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in the Green Bower Cemetery in Gardner. Calling hours will be held prior to the Requiem on Monday, from 8:00-9:00AM in the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River.
