Adeline (Pokat) Garrick

FALL RIVER – Adeline (Pokat) Garrick, 88, of Fall River died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Highlander in Fall River. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Rosenfeld) Pokat, she was the wife of the late Herman Garrick.

She was a graduate with the Class of 1937 of Roslindale High School and graduated from Boston Clerical School in 1939. Mrs. Garrick was an office administrator in the garment industry in Fall River for many years, retiring in 1984. She was a former member of Temple Beth El in Fall River and current member of Adas Israel Synagogue in Fall River. She was a very active member in the sisterhoods at both the Temple and Synagogue, a member of the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, and a past treasurer of the Jewish Friendship Club. Mrs. Garrick also volunteered her time in the gift shop at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Garrick leaves a daughter, Judith Garrick and her partner Arlene Tevyaw of N. Attleboro, MA; a son, Albert Garrick of Needham, MA; and three loving grandchildren, Amanda, Joseph and Zoe. She was the sister of the late Bernard Pokat.

Funeral Information

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 8, 2008, at 1:00PM in the Hebrew Cemetery, MacMahon St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A memorial observance will be held immediately following the service at Adas Israel Synagogue, 1647 Robeson St., Fall River, and also at the home of Judith Garrick and Arlene Tevyaw Tuesday, December 9, from 2:00-4:00 & 5:00-8:00PM at 411 Kelley Blvd., N. Attleboro, MA.
