View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Lorenzo S. "Ren" Galarza, 7, died in Florida Thursday, May 20, 2010, while on vacation with his family. Born in Taunton, son of Samuel and Heather (Rickell) Galarza, Ren was a kindergarten student at the Chamberlain School in Taunton. He was a happy fun loving boy who enjoyed every minute of life and never complained about his medical condition.
He was known for asking his teachers for more homework to do. He liked playing with his Barbie Dolls, going to the Red Sox and the Paw Sox baseball games, and spending time with his special team of nurses at Children’s Hospital in Boston. He was very proud of the fact that he was an Honorary Firefighter with the City of Taunton Fire Department.
Besides his parents, Ren is survived by his siblings, Izabella, Lilyana and Rickardo Galarza. He is the grandson of Grace and Harold Rickell and Antonio and Rosa Galarza, all of Taunton. Ren is the nephew of Tracey, Brandy, Sherri Elizabeth, Delia, Heather, Jake, Jamie, Eliseo, Elias, Danny and German; and he is also survived by his very special nurses at Children’s Hospital, Julisa, Elizabeth, Jodi and Miss Caroline.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 19 Kilmer St., Taunton, Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 26, from 4:00-8:00 PM in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave, (Route 138 South), Taunton.
Ren never liked the color black, so it is requested by his family that those attending Visiting Hours and the Mass please wear colorful clothes.
