Muriel (Pacheco) Braga

SOMERSET, MA – Muriel (Pacheco) Braga, 73, of Somerset, and formerly of Swansea, died Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Born in Swansea, the daughter of the late Arthur M. and Mary (Barboza) Pacheco, she was the wife of the late Manuel Braga.

Educated in the public school system in Swansea, Muriel then graduated from the nursing program at Bristol Community College. Mrs. Braga worked at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1994. While working at Charlton, she continued her education at Roger Williams University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Health and Human Services.

Mrs. Braga was a member of the Baptist Temple in Fall River for many years, very active with the church choir and had a very strong relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mrs. Braga enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and music.

She leaves two sons, Mark J. Soares and his wife Anita of Swansea, and Michael J. Soares and his wife Kim of Fall River; a step-daughter, Carol Braga of Somerset; a step-son, Mann Braga of Swansea; a sister, Ruth Stringer and her husband Everett of Lockport, NY; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Braga of Swansea; ten grandchildren, Jeremy M., Jeremy R., Jennifer, Nick, Susan, Holly, Hailey, Tim, Megan and Mike; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Amanda and Porter; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur M. Pacheco, Jr.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 01, 2010, at 10:00 am in the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with Video Photo Album will be Tuesday, August 31, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the funeral home.
