John J. Hennessy

John J. Hennessy, 74, of Melbourne, FL formerly of Fairhaven died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in the Rockledge Rehab. Center after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Janice (Tripp) Hennessy.

Born in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Mary K. (Mikulec) Hennessy and the late John J. Hennessy, he lived in Fairhaven before moving to Florida in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church while in Fairhaven.

Mr. Hennessy served in the Air Force during the Korean War and later worked as an equipment installer for New England Telephone. He was a graduate of Curry College.
Mr. Hennessy was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, the Telephone Pioneers and the Brevard Association of the Blind.

He is survived by his mother; four sons, John C. Hennessy of CocoaBeach, FL, James M. Hennessy of Fairhaven, Jeffrey A. Hennessy of Wareham and Joseph P. Hennessy of Greensboro, MD; two daughters, Cheryl Hennessy of Westport and Lisa Hennessy of Fairhaven; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley and Hannah Hennessy, Erica, Lindsey and Max Sylvia and Katherine Dennis and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hennessy was the brother of the late Eileen Hansen.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours are Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairhaven Lions Club for Eye Research, 125 Bridge St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
