Jeffrey Bailey, 64, of Somerset, steadfast husband of Madeleine Lemaire Bailey, and dearly loved father of Elisabeth and Jennifer, passed away surrounded by “his girls” on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017. Born in Fall River on September 9th, 1952 to Lester and Cecile (Vallaincourt) Bailey, Jeff grew up in Fall River, part of a large, close-knit extended family. He attended MSGR Prevost High School and received his B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Jeff was a role model; gentle, hardworking, caring, and artistic.
He was the proud owner of JB Coordination Company, and then worked as a Project Manager at Russco, Inc. until his retirement in August 2016. Though he worked tirelessly, he pursued his passions with the same intensity: cars, motorcycles, planes, speedboats, and traveling, while always drawing. Perhaps his favorite pastime was just spending time with his many friends. Through his interests, Jeff brought people together. He founded the NASCAR Club, now in it’s 18th year, as well as a Wednesday Night Motorcycle Club.
Above all else, Jeff was a family man. He referred to his wife and daughters as his “family unit,” insisting that they travel as a pack, whether it was to London or to Home Depot. Everyone who was fortunate to know Jeff appreciated his work ethic, sense of humor, kindness, artistic talent, and love of music. Jeff leaves behind his lifelong love, Madeleine, and is survived by his two daughters, Elisabeth Bailey (husband Grahame Marpole) of Watertown, MA, and Jennifer Bailey (husband Jesse Howroyd) of Newton, MA. He was the best “Beepee” to his grandchildren, James and Rose Bailey-Marpole and Josephine Howroyd. He was a mentor, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to so many, who will carry him in their hearts forever.
