Charles F. Hierholcer

FALMOUTH – Charles F. Hierholcer, 64, formerly of Westport, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, in Falmouth Hospital, Falmouth, MA, after a long illness. He was the husband of Mary L. (Sylvia) Hierholcer. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Charles and the late Mary (Parkin) Hierholcer, he lived most of his life in the city before moving to Westport in 1996.

Mr. Hierholcer was a correctional officer for Department of Corrections in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for thirty-two years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his retirement in 2001. He was and an avid hunter and a member of various area gun clubs. Charlie also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the Star in the East Lodge AF & AM and the Aleppo Temple of the Shriners.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hierholcer leaves two sons, Robert C. Hierholcer and his wife Tammy of Fairhaven and Steven P. Hierholcer and his fiancé Dawn Marie Nasuti and her son Ethan; a sister-in-law, Nancy L’Heureux of Westport; and several cousins, a niece and a nephew.

Funeral Information

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009, from 3:00-7:00 PM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, with a funeral service Thursday, July 16, at 10:00 AM, in the funeral home, followed by interment in Acushnet Cemetery.
