Robert J. "Rob" Ferreira

DIGHTON – Robert J. "Rob" Ferreira, 48, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Rob was stricken ill at his home on Sunday and was air lifted to Boston the same day from Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was surrounded by his mother and siblings at the time of his death.

Born in Taunton, the son of Lorraine (Belanger) Ferreira of Dighton and the late Edward Ferreira, he was a 1979 graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth High School. He was employed as a carpenter by the Walter Koss Company in Taunton, and he also formerly worked as a cement worker in the Taunton area. Rob had also lived and worked for a period of time in Florida. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church in Dighton. One of Rob’s enjoyment in life was writing poetry; he also liked going fishing.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his sisters and brothers: Catherine Leite and her husband Peter of North Dighton, Judy Schnettler and her husband Steve of Michigan, Michael Ferreira of North Dighton, Richard Ferreira and his wife Claire of Dighton and Steven Ferreira of North Dighton. He was the uncle of Carla Leite, Janeka Ferreira, Cortney, Samantha and Kasey Schnettler, Lindsey and Hayley Ferreira, and the great uncle of Jayda Johnson.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton Saturday, June 20, 2009, from 1:00-4:00PM. Interment services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
