Jeannette (Berthiaume) La Perriere

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Jeannette (Berthiaume) LaPerriere, 84, formerly of South Dartmouth, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the New Bedford Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Leopold R. “Leo” LaPerriere, with whom she shared a forty-nine year marriage. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Emile and the late Leotine (Masse) Berthiaume, she lived most of her life in the city before settling in Dartmouth twenty years ago.
Mrs. LaPerrierre worked at the Berkshire Hathaway Mill years ago as well as being a home maker. She enjoyed singing and dancing and was especially good at yodeling. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching the New England Patriots. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in South Dartmouth.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry LaPerriere and his companion Diana Tenney of New Bedford and Luke LaPerriere and his wife Beth of Matthews, NC; a daughter, Jeannine La Perriere of Dartmouth; six grandchildren, Scott, Jenna, Kane A., David R., Kyla M. and Justin LaPerriere; a dear friend, Sharon Pittsley of Dartmouth; two sisters, Rose LaFleur of Dartmouth and her twin, Theresa LaFaille of New Bedford; two nephews, Donald LaFleur and Peter Berthiaume and two nieces, Dr. Rene Reis and Nicole Vicarri, and several other nieces and nephews.. Mrs. LaPerriere was the sister of the late Alfred, Emilien “Pete” and Flore Berthiaume.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 8:00AM from THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., S. Dartmouth at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery #2, New Bedford. Calling hours are Friday, November 20, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
