Allan E. Tompson

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook REHOBOTH – Allan E. Tompson, 64, died suddenly in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Monday, March 10, 2008, after being stricken ill at his home in Rehoboth. Born in Acushnet, MA, a son of the late Romeo and Adela (Dulak) Tompson, he was the husband of Donna (Eno) Tompson.
Mr. Tompson was educated in St. Mary’s Grammar School in Taunton, graduated with the Class of 1961 of Msgr. Coyle High School in Taunton. He earned his bachelor’s degree from, and graduated with the Class of 1965 of, Boston College, and earned his master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1967. For the next forty-one years, he was a math teacher. He taught for thirty-five years in the Mansfield School System, and at various other Massachusetts and Rhode Island Schools; in September, 2007, he began teaching at Coyle-Cassidy High School in Taunton.
Mr. Tompson was communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Seekonk. He was an avid Boston College sports fan, enjoyed racing pigeons as a youth, and enjoyed skiing and golfing. He was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Taunton, the Newman YMCA in Seekonk, and the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association. He coached Math Leagues and was a soccer and basketball coach for his daughters. He was very active with the Coyle High School Class of 1961 reunion activities. Allan was a nineteen-year resident of Rehoboth.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Tompson leave his daughters, Elizabeth M. Tompson, Kathryn A. Tompson and Margaret “Meg” Tompson, all of Reboboth. He was the brother of Beverly Berube and her husband Ron of California, Jean Tomkowicz of Colorado, Frederick Tompson and his wife Pam of Bourne, MA, and Edward Tompson and Margaret Heddy of Washington state. He was the former brother-in-law of Kent Hopson, and is also survived by several sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
His funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held from THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 8:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Seekonk, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow the funeral rite in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 14, from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
