View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SOMERSET – Mae B. (Couto) Chace, 102, of Kennedy Terrace, Somerset, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. Born in Hudson, MA, a daughter of the late John & Mary (Vigas) Couto, she was the wife of the late Gordon Chace.
Mrs. Chace was employed as a machine operator for several area sewing shops in Fall River for more than forty years. A resident of Somerset for ninety-four years, she relocated nearly a century ago from Marlboro.
She was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset, and was a member of the Royal Travelers, the Somerset Seniors, the Fall River Council on Aging, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.). Mrs. Chace enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, and knitting.
She is survived by two daughters, June Truver of Somerset and Sylvia Primmer of The Villages, Flordia; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six great–great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur Cote, John Couto, Clarence Couto.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 8:00AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Burial will follow the Mass in the Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 4, from 3:00–7:00PM.
