View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FAIRHAVEN – Lillian (Spindler) Macedo, 91, formerly of Dana Court, died Thursday, January 15, 2009, in Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John Macedo. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (Duarte) Spindler, she lived most of her life in the city before settling in Fairhaven in 1993. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Macedo worked as a stitcher and later at the luncheon counter at Woolworth’s Five and Dime. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Club in Westport.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Macedo and his wife Mildred of New Bedford, John Macedo and his wife Elaine “Penny” of Enfield, NH, and Carl Macedo and his wife Barbara of Rochester; six grandchildren, John R., Tammy, Russell A., Mark A. and Michael A. Macedo and Robin L. Ponte; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 9:00AM, from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 20, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
