SOMERSET, MA – Norman Anthony Oliveira, 77, of Connecticut Avenue, Somerset, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008. Born in Fall River, MA, the was the son of the late Mary (Camara) Oliveira, he was the husband of Rose Marie (Leite) Oliveira, with whom he shared forty-four years of marriage.

Mr. Oliveira worked for the Stop and Shop Companies for forty-three years, retiring in 1996. He was a 1975 graduate of Bryant University and a 1950 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Oliveira was a parishioner of Saint Patrick’s Church in Somerset and a member of its Saint Vincent de Paul Society, the Saint Patrick’s Men’s Club, the Friends of the Somerset Public Library, and the UFCW International Union, Local #328.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Oliveira leaves four daughters, Catherine A. Zinni and her husband Paul of Taunton, MA, Anne E. Oliveira of Grafton, MA, Judith M. Oliveira of Boston, MA, and Nancy E. Oliveira of Dartmouth, MA; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandra Zinni, both of Taunton, MA.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held Monday, June 2, 2008, at 8:45AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, 306 South Street, Somerset, MA. Burial will follow the Mass in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, County Street, Somerset. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 1, from 3:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
