James K. Kresge, 86, of Acushnet died Saturday, September 30, 2006 in Rhode Island Hospital from injuries sustained in and automobile accident. He was the widower of Hilda Ann (Caton) Kresge. Born in Schuylkill, PA, the son of the late James K. and the late Florence (Miller) Kresge, he grew up there and lived in East Freetown for 50 years until moving to Acushnet three years ago. Mr. Kresge served in the Army during WWII and later worked for the government for 23 years at Otis Air Force Base and the V.A. Hospital in Brockton until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the VFW Post 6643 in East Freetown and the Senior Center in East Freetown. He was also and avid woodworker. Survivors include two sons, Carl A. Kresge and his wife Terry of Auburn, NH and James K. Kresge, III of Edgartown; a brother, Herbert Kresge of New Bedford; a sister, Ruth Hamity of Buffalo, NY; three grandchildren, Kristen, Kelsey and Kyle Kresge and several nieces and nephews. Funeral InformationHis funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8 PM. |
